Created for a Purpose

One question that many people struggle with is “What is my Purpose?” or “If there is a God, why did He create me?”

Before we can seriously consider one of those questions, we must first understand our relationship with the one who is the creator. So, it must start with a relationship.

It is very difficult for a person who does not believe in God to grasp the concept of first having an eternal purpose and secondly having a relationship with a God that they don’t believe in. We must first come to the realization that this life that you live is not by chance or a random act of nature. You have a purpose. But how do we find that purpose?

There have been many books and studies written to answer this question over the centuries. But there is only one book that contains the answer. There is only one God who can give you that purpose.

The Bible says that everything has a purpose even the wicked. “The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.” Proverbs 16:4 (ESV)
Therefore you have a purpose. You are unique and you are special. You were made by God and have great value.

The Bible says that God is the one who is trying to shape our lives into what He wants us to be.
“But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Isaiah 64:8 (ESV)
Therefore you have a purpose. God does not create something for no purpose or of no value. You were created for a purpose because you are unique and you are special and have great value because God is trying to mold you into something useful for His kingdom.

The Bible says that Jesus is that Creator and everything was created, no matter what it is, for His purpose.
“15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. 17And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:15–17 (ESV)
Therefore you have a purpose. Jesus is holding all things together, and you are included in all things. All things were made for Him, you were made for God and by God.

The Bible says that we are God’s “workmanship”. You are a masterpiece made by God.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
Therefore you have a purpose. God doesn’t make junk, God made you. Created in Christ Jesus for good works. Ephesians 2:1-10 says that “we” are His workmanship, “we” were created for good works, “we” should walk in these good works, not in order to be saved, but as a result of being saved.

Saved from what? Saved from the penalty of our sin and it is God alone who provided a way for that to be done. No man is perfect and we all miss the mark terribly. But God came in the form of human, His son named Jesus, born of a virgin woman in order to pay that price for my sin and yours.

Yes, you have a purpose! That purpose is to please God by believing in Jesus Christ, then tell others how they can find salvation from the penalty of their sins through Jesus Christ.

When you say yes to letting Jesus save you from your sin, you will have entered into that relationship with God that He is looking to have with you. But, He will not force you or make you. It has to be your choice so you will then know your purpose.

What will you do? Will you say Yes to Jesus and find your purpose? Or will you die in your sin and then be trapped by the decision you didn’t make? No decision to say yes to Jesus is a decision.

God loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.
